Watry Capabilities

Single source responsibility is the key to headache-free casting purchasing!!!

Watry Industries specializes in Permanent Mold Aluminum Castings. The permanent mold process employs gravity pouring of metal (which reduces the likelihood of porosity) using steel or cast iron molds. The molds, created economically, are durable enough to produce many castings, which translates into the affordable parts costs you require.

Watry's capabilities extend far beyond your typical permanent mold foundry. As your single source for permanent mold castings, we can reduce your transportation costs and eliminate the headaches that arise in dealing with subcontractors.

Information regarding our operational offerings is provided below. We are committed to ongoing expansion of our services to meet your needs.

Casting Design Consultation

The key to any successful casting project launch is proper casting design. If proper casting design criteria are ignored, the possibility of cost and manufacturing problems exists. Watry prefers to work closely with our customers in the design phase of their projects so that proper casting design and optimal manufacturing techniques can be incorporated from the start, avoiding design changes later in the project. Casting price can be minimized from the start. Watry prides itself in its up front value engineering...where it is most cost effective.

Mold and Fixture Design

All mold and fixture design is performed by our engineering staff on a 3D CAD/CAM system. For our customer's convenience, and to avoid translation errors, we are able to electronically accept and utilize most customer-generated CAD part designs. Because our Tool and Die Department and our Engineering Department utilize the same CAD/CAM system, errors between the CAD and CAM functions are virtually eliminated.

Tool and Die Making

Nearly all of Watry's molds and fixtures are built and maintained by our in-house Tool and Die facility, which also performs changes and repairs. All tooling is produced using state of the art CNC machining and turning centers. Occasionally mold size or condensed lead times force us to subcontract mold building, but this is the exception and the customer is always notified. Whenever tool and die work is subcontracted to our certified suppliers, Watry's engineering staff closely monitors its quality and progress.

Permanent and Semi-Permanent Mold Casting

Watry has one of the most modern permanent mold foundries in the country. We design our own casting equipment and use the latest in PLC controls to ensure accuracy and consistency in our process parameters. We often employ robotics in pouring and casting extraction. Watry's universal mold mounting system minimizes set-up time while maximizing versatility between available casting equipment. This translates into an on time delivery record that's second to none.

Heat Treatment

Watry performs all aluminum heat treat types. Heat treat types performed to date are as follows: T4, T5, T51, T6, T61, and T7. We are aware of the importance of a proper heat treatment and ensure results with the latest in controls, physical testing equipment and record retention systems.

Precision CNC Machining

Watry does machining of its own castings as well as contract machining for other industries. Though we perform CNC machining in-house, Watry supplies castings to some of the largest machine shops in the country. We are currently machining about 50% of our own castings. The balance are machined by our customers or the machine shop of their choice.

Subcontracted Finishing

While we do try to provide as many services as possible in-house, many of our Customers have special needs which we have minimal market for. Watry currently subcontracts the following finishing services:

Anodizing

Yellow Chromate

Polishing

Plating

Non-Stick Coating

Powder Coating (See Below)

Powder Coating

Watry has offered powder coating since January of 1998. Because of the large amount of powder coating Watry has subcontracted, we've decided to do it ourselves. As part of Watry Industries latest plant expansion a powder coating facility has been added. We are utilizing a 7-stage stainless steel washing system with the 7th stage being a de-ionized water rinse for maximum salt spray protection. The powder equipment utilizes the latest in cyclonic recycling technology. Cyclone technology speeds color changes and minimizes waste. We are coating our own castings as well as contract coating for other industries. See our online brochure for more information.

Assembly

Watry is also capable of light assembly work. Where practical, Watry can install your componentry and supply you with a virtually finished product.

So What Does Single Source Responsibility Mean To You?

Lower Production Costs

Lower Transportation Costs

Shorter Lead Times

Lower Inventory

And Most of All...Fewer Headaches!
